Baikal Teal, Minsmere
1st W drake Baikal Teal. See the December 2009 and October 2010 issues of British Birds for accounts of the finding and identification of this and other Baikal Teal records in Britain. This bird constitutes the first of only two acceptable records for Britain in the modern era (there is an Irish record too), with several records being proven/likely escapes from captivity. A juvenile bird of unknown provenance was present near Maldon, Essex, 2 Oct. 2010. Will it be the next 'wild' record?! High-quality archival-grade photo prints of the Minsmere bird available ~8x8 inches, £10 incl. postage (email via 'contact me' link above).
