Lunar Hornet Moth (Clearwing)
A fantastic example of mimicry - this micro moth poses as a hornet or wasp and even makes an angry buzzing sound when disturbed into flight. It was found freshly emerged early in the morning in sallows close to the marshy boardwalk and was later put on show for visitors. Unlike a hornet, note the antenna shape and scaly wings.
